In a room alone
A soldier sits preparing his gun
Cleaning
Cleaning
Oiling
Inspecting every part
He knows a battle is coming soon
He quickly gathers his uniform
Readying his pack
Preparing his boots
Knowing the call of duty comes
He buries his fear
Quoting some forgotten psalm
This is my rifle…
